I received a letter from the Senate office of Senators Dewine and Voinovich the other day, and I will copy that letter on this site in a special Mid-Week update on Wednesday.
Other than that, there has been no other progress in the fight. I'll be sure to keep all of you posted...
What a "wonderful life"!!
Tropical Storm Zeta became the 27th Named tropical storm of the 2005 season. It became the 2nd storm to form in December of last year, and only the sixth to form that late – on record – since record keeping began in the mid-1800s!! Zeta could have broken another record for being the longest lasting Tropical Storm that formed in Late December; after having lasted past January 5th. Has the weather freaked anyone else out yet?
Nearly 200 homes in Oklahoma and Texas were destroyed by wildfires at the end of last year. I don’t know about any of you, but I’ve never heard of wildfires in mid-winter. Freaky, eh?
There is a major controversy over the possibility that an innocent man was put to death. If this investigation is completed and it concludes that the man executed was innocent; it would be the first case where such an incident was verified and made public!! The death penalty is not a deterrent, just a nuisance!!
Considerable support for the raising of Minimum Wage is on the rise. Many are saying that Democrats can and should use this issue to rally support for this year’s congressional election. Especially when you consider the fact that whenever a Democrat has proposed increases – in the past nine years – Repugs have overwhelmingly shot it down! Some cowardly/greedy Repugs are claiming that an increase in the minimum wage will hurt the economy, but their rhetoric goes with little backup. In states where the minimum wage is higher than the federal level; there are no such reports of a state economy in ruins. In fact, Oregon – which has one of the highest minimum wages – has had twice the rate of job growth than the national average!
Senator Chuck Schumer of New York (D) has a plan that includes seven target states to help our party regain control of the Senate. With the scandals and failures of the Repugs in the past several years; I would not be surprised if we are successful in achieving our objective goal here.
There are many things that Hillary Clinton will have to do in order to gain the support of her liberal base. Seeing her knack for leaning right in the past 5 years that she’s been in office; Hillary needs to show some backbone in standing up against the radical right when its needed the most. She needs to leave the Democratic Leadership Council – which is a big part of her downfall – and rejoin the “democratic wing of the Democratic Party”. However, even if she does all of this; she first needs to finish her second term in the Senate (assuming she’s re-elected this year in New York) in order to prove her loyalty to her constituency. Then, if she still wants it; she can run for President in 2012 (she won’t get my support if she runs in 2008). Nevertheless, if she doesn’t reform (as Yoda would probably say) “my support, she will not have.”
The movement for the Impeachment of the BOOsh Regime has moved our party closer to victory this year. With the help of Liberal Blogs and the AfterDowningStreet.org crew; we can and will lead Congress, the States and – eventually – the White House again.
Over 30 Military veterans have joined congressional races as Democrats for the 2006 election. These experienced men and women are not only seeking to help Democrats regain control of Congress, but to restore honor, dignity and courage to our government as well.
The need for us to regain control of the Senate is of a higher priority than ever before. Last year, out of 160+ Democratic sponsored legislation in the Senate; Repugs shot down roughly 75% of them. However, when you exclude the votes on Democratic sponsored measures that were on subjects that wouldn’t have made sense to oppose at all (such as a bill to “honor the 15th anniversary of Americans and Disabilities Act of 1990”); the total number of measures that Repugs shot down goes up to 84%!! How’s that for uniting the country?
Senators Barbara Boxer, Jon Corzine, Edward Kennedy, John Kerry, Frank Lautenberg, Jack Reed, and Paul Sarbanes have the best voting records of 2005. These seven brave Senators stood up for us in every important piece of legislation last year. They are among 14 total Democratic senators that stood up for us most – if not all – of the time. I realize that leaves about 30 Democrats in the Senate. Well, the rest of them either voted for us in the most extreme cases or when it appeared to be the most convenient to them. You must realize that the disappointment of those cowardly Dixiecrats (who are almost no different than being RePOOPlicans with Democratic clothing) is largely due to the movements of Congressional groups like the so-called “Blue Dog Democrats” and the Democratic “Leadership” Council. Those groups pander to the right wing and are a hindrance to our party and - most importantly – the entire nation!
Democrats are stalling the vote on Alito’s confirmation for at least one week, but have no plans – yet – to filibuster him. Repugs have announced that if Democrats filibuster Alito, they will utilize the nuclear option and eliminate the right to filibuster judicial nominees. If this alone isn’t a sign of Repug corruption then people are truly blind!
A former accountant with Enron has confessed to committing fraud. This is a plus for the federal government’s case against the now bankrupt corporation that plunged in late-2001. Lest we forget, Enron had connections to the demented and twisted BOOsh Regime; which – in part – was one of the main reasons for the public’s major outcry for justice.
Certain so-called “voter rights groups” have been called to testify in cases regarding the stolen election in 2004. The only problem is that these groups have ties to the Repugs, especially the BOOsh Regime. How does one ensure that their crimes will not come to question? Hire some people to pose as being on the side of the victims and discredit their arguments in court.
Congressman Bob Ney (R) is attempting to get legislation passed that would overrule all state laws in the Union regarding predatory lending. It would only require a notice of “reasonable, net tangible benefit” before the refinancing of a loan when it is of “high-cost” to the borrower. In North Carolina, a strict law against predatory lending requires a notice of “reasonable, net tangible benefit” before any and all refinancing, and if Ney’s bill passes, North Carolina’s law will be thrown out.
BOOsh has appointed four loyalists to the Federal Elections Commission during the Senate recess. Of course, recess appointments don’t end until the next session of congress begins (that is in January 2007). This is a questionable move on the Dictator’s part, because he will now have his goons watching over the election process just in time for the Congressional Election this year. Now, there’s a way to make sure that you maintain control over the entire government; appoint your people to the government office that oversees the elections!!
Congressman Tom Delay has ties to Jack Abramoff, and a recent report displays that fact. Alongside that is the fact that one of the companies that is related to Delay received $1Million in a single donation from a London company that got most of its money from Russian gas and oil companies. Jack Abramoff could indeed be the “straw that broke the Repug Camel’s back”.
Jack Abramoff has pleaded guilty to several charges against him that included special bribes to get certain legislation passed or rejected. Abramoff’s plea includes certain statements that contradict a number of things that Bob Ney has said regarding this case. The dark cloud hovers over about 30 Congressman – including Tom Delay and Bob Ney – and the storm is about to strike. It has been revealed – through research – that not one dime of Abramoff’s money ever directly went to a Democrat in office.
In the 1980s, Samuel Alito wrote a legal memo that set the standard for the so-called “signing statements” that “allowed the executive branch to interpret the laws that they passed”. I will discuss more on this later, but to make a long story short; Alito opened the doors for an American Dictator!
Out of roughly $100,000 that Jack Abramoff had helped raise for BOOsh to re-steal the Oval Office; the Dictator has announced his plans to donate a whopping 6,000 of that to the American Heart Association, WOW!!! Those people with heart diseases should be on their feet and jumping for joy over what our Glorious oppressor has given out of his generous black heart!! ONLY 6% of the total funds that a confessed felon helped raise for you, you pathetic BASTARD!!
It appears that - at least – half of those being polled are saying that “corruption” will play a big role in their vote this November; no wonder why Repugs are scattering over this Abramoff investigation…HA HA HA HA HA!!
Did anyone else hear about what David Letterman did to Bill O’Reilly last week? It was hilarious!! First of all, he said this to the walking-talking human pimple: “I have the feeling that 60% of what you say is crap” (in addition to dipping his cigarette in O’Reilly’s cup of coffee during the interview) and this was in response to O’Reilly’s statement of the following: “The Soldiers and Marines are noble they are not terrorists and when people call them that like Cindy Sheehan … called the insurgents freedom fighters we don't like that.” So, people like us think that the soldiers are terrorists? I don’t believe I EVER said that!! Cindy Sheehan SURE IN HELL didn’t say that, my personal friend - the mother of a soldier serving in Iraq – Mona Parsons (whom took part in that petition delivery with me last month) doesn’t think of our soldiers as terrorists!! Where’s your logic in your statement? You have none, because you are no different than all of the other ass-hats that serve the whacked-out right wing; you lying, selfish, COWARDLY, son of a bitch!!
Quite a few Congressmen are involved Congress’ biggest scandal in over a century!! This must all be pretty depressing for Tom Delay; whom seems to be pretty fond of his bosom buddy. Aww…
During the Senate recess last month; our glorious oppressor decided to appoint officials to 17 key positions in government. Each term in office will end in January 2007, unless the next session of the Senate approves them. This was done to avoid any opposition in the Senate, and it should be a major concern to us all. Who says that he won’t do this again and again until he finally leaves the office he occupies?
In light of the recent tragedy with the death of those miners; it should be noted that BOOsh has known about the dangers to mine workers since 2002 (at least), but has insisted on signing a laundry list of cuts to mine safety programs. Sounds a lot like how he handled the levee system in New Orleans despite over 50 years of warnings that preceded Hurricane Katrina…Déjà vu…
It seems that BOOsh has become pretty annoyed by the complaints and investigations on the CIA and NSA; citing the resemblance to the 1970s investigations of how the FBI and CIA sought to spy on anti-war, civil rights and other groups that opposed certain government policies. BOOsh called those investigators that sought information on the corrupted CIA in the 1970s “a bunch of untutored little jerks.” Classy.
Tom Delay’s troubles never cease as it has been revealed that his lobbying firm can be linked to at least major scandals!! Damn, it’s not enough to be the RePOOPlican leader in the House, but you are indeed a great instructor in corrupt politics 101!!
Some in Congress are irate over BOOsh’s recess appointments citing that the privilege should be used sparingly, but he uses them to put inexperienced fools in high positions of government bureaucracies.
In light of the Abramoff and additional scandals that are causing him all kinds of headaches; Tom Delay has decided to permanently step down from his leadership position…really no difference though, because unless something changes soon, an equally corrupt Repug will assume their position as his replacement. Happens everytime…
The Justice Department recently announced plans to investigate the New York Times to find out who leaked the information about the spy program (a move that prompted a complaint from the American Civil Liberties Union). Some brainwashed, right wing bloggers are claiming that the disclosure of the spy program was “treason”!! Treason?!! Standing up for constitutional rights is treason? You idiots on the right are worse off than I thought…no…wait…I already knew you were this bad (you should meet my right wing father…LOL). On the subject of the Justice Department’s investigation; LMAO!!! Instead of paying attention to the fact that the occupiers of the white house are breaking the laws of the land; this bureaucracy is concerned about someone using the Constitutionally protected right to a “free press” to reveal the scandal that is taking away our Fourth Amendment right to have a warrant before we are searched (or spied on, same thing)…funny how you Repugs claim to love the constitution until it works against you…WAIT…that’s why you are always the ones to amend it, to make it fit your agenda!!
There is serious evidence out that the BOOsh Regime sponsored torture, and supported it when sending terror suspects to Uzbekistan for “interrogations”. This is the same country that – as I read in one report (you can find it by searching on the internet) – boiled their prisoners alive!! What a great role model our Empire has become!!
Despite federal rules against it; the National Security Agency has allowed “cookies” to be on their website for quite some time. Now, although regular visits to the NSA website are unlikely, the very fact that a person who simply wants to look for certain information could have their privacy violated is something of great concern. If any of you have ever seen the movie “The Skulls” then you will know what this means: “If it’s secret and its elite, it can’t be good.”
In an attempt to ensure that his current course of “pre-emptive war” in the so-called “war on terror” will continue; BOOsh has moved to appoint Regime loyalists in military leadership positions. This move actually centralizes the Regime’s power in the military by allowing more people that agree with the Dictator’s policies to lead the various military branches…way to go bucko!!
Major phone companies seem to be silent on the issue of the spy program that they undoubtedly – for the most part – had a hand in. Some use the excuse that the government used to spy on telegrams that went overseas during the Cold War, but even that was unconstitutional. I’m sorry, you can call me a commie bastard or whatever you want, but I just don’t and won’t ever feel comfortable with the government having the ability to spy on my every move!! I mean, is this what our brave men and women have fought a died for these past 230+ Years?!! I think not!
The glorious oppressor again came out in defense of his spy program, saying that he feels that most Americans understands the need to spy on their fellow countrymen whom are highly suspected of receiving calls from al-Qaeda. Hmm, ok, well that still doesn’t explain why you avoided getting a warrant to initiate the surveillance of these questionable communications!! A secret court exists so that you can get these warrants without the knowledge of the public or the “enemy”, so what in the blue hell is your excuse?!! You have none, TRAITOR!! BOOsh needs to be impeached and removed from office, alongside any and all supporters of his policies!!
In his never ending struggle to save his dictatorial powers; BOOsh reluctantly signed a bill that gave a one month extension to certain key provisions of the patriot act. The irate ass face hasn’t been too happy since the Senate filibustered the act last month, and if it isn’t renewed by February 4th … it’s done for….LMAO!!! He even stated the following to push for its renewal: “The enemy has not gone away. They're still there. And I expect Congress to understand that we're still at war, and they've got to give us the tools necessary to win this war”…still at war…and we will continue to be at war until terror is defeated? Wait, that’s an impossibility, because only divine intervention can defeat evil overwhelmingly!! So, face it…as long as BOOsh is setting the standards, his “war” will have no end…
BOOsh’s insane belief that he is somehow above the law come from the various legal interpretations that he gets from people that are nothing short of brownnosers to the Regime. The NSA spy program isn’t the only result of BOOsh’s interpretation of his “war powers authority”, but there are a number of secret programs that he has signed off on that could be seen as being against international and American laws…Yoda would be very sad as he would say: “Destroyed the image of America, you have.”
A Democratic Senator has demanded to know the reason, justification and cost of the pentagon spying on anti-war protests as of late. He points out that our government doesn’t have enough money to supply adequate armor for our men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan, but they have the money to spy on peaceful protests…where’s the honor in that?!! This Senator is right when he underlines the disturbing trend of this dictatorship as it seeks to scare us away from exercising constitutional rights…ask yourself this: “How do the actions of these people in power differ from the actions of the Soviet Union, North Korea, Cuba, China or even Nazi Germany?” When you can provide me with an answer, please let me know; I’ll be happy to hear your take on it.
The NSA doesn’t need to spy on you with “cookies”, because “Echelon” allows them to intercept over 3 Billion communications a day that include communications via telephone, satellite, radio, faxes, or even emails!! Just makes you feel better about that Constitution, after all, in the words of the Dictator himself: “it’s just a ***damned piece of paper!!”
One woman, that experienced being spied on by Communist neighbors in Europe during the Cold War has expressed her deep fears of our nation becoming paralyzed by the sheer paranoia that will be created by the numerous government spy programs to battle “terror”. When former Attorney General John Ashcroft was hospitalized and had to be temporarily replaced as he underwent a certain procedure, the BOOsh Regime sought the approval of his replacement to move forward with certain practices in the spy program, but when he had refused; the BOOsh associates went to the hospital where Ashcroft was at and reportedly attempted to get an approval from this hospitalized man!! HOW PATHETIC!!
In order to better serve their program to “protect us”; the NSA often cross-checked their data that was gained by the illegal search and seizure with other government bureaucracies…beautiful!!
Here’s proof that our government is doing its job of protecting us Americans from them damn terrorists; a little boy almost didn’t get to go home with his parents because authorities forced them to provide ID for the child to prove that he wasn’t a terrorist!! The boy was 4!!
In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks; it is reported that the NSA acted on its own without the order by BOOsh to expand their surveillance. So, these secretive bureaucracies are acting on their own now…not only is BOOsh a corrupt dictator, but the modern day Gustapo and KGB are just as bad!!
In an executive “right” to write a “signing statement” (a right that was born with the interpretation of Sam Alito), BOOsh interpreted the new ban on torture (McCain’s more extensive ban on torture than what was previously recognized) as acceptable except in cases where the nation’s security is in deep threat!! This means that BOOsh believes that he can just bypass the new law altogether if the “ends justify the means”. This – of course – goes to show that all of our efforts have gone to waste because this bastard will act above the law no matter what you throw at him!! Now, the Senate isn’t going to sit by as BOOsh gets away with this, because even three members of his own party are crying foul!!
Our government is seeking to have a number of cases against them dismissed. Many of these cases include detainees that feel that they have been wronged in their detainment and treatment. It’s not enough to take away their right to have their case heard before a civilian court, now they want all the impending cases dismissed? We are incredible role models.
The Secret Court that was created by FISA in the 1970s (the one that grants secret warrants to permit our government to initiate wiretaps and spy on our email) is demanding to know why BOOsh avoiding seeking their approval for the program at all. Sounds like someone’s in trouble!!
There is word that NBC is conducting an investigation on whether or not the BOOsh Regime spied on a CNN reporter. Why doesn’t this surprise me? Suppression of the media sounds like a tactic that Soviet Russia or Communist China would do..not us!! Doesn’t anyone care about our beloved Constitution anymore?!!
Even the Department of Homeland Security can’t be trusted as they have been reportedly opening our private mail!! What is going on here?!!
Our government has started looking for people to take over the rebuilding effort in Afghanistan. I guess they’ve had enough and feel that our mission is accomplished…wait…um…wasn’t Bin-Laden in Afghanistan? Oh, that’s right, “terror is bigger than one man” became the official policy six months after BOOsh demanded that he be found “dead or alive”…talk about “flip-flops”!!
Government officials and Neo-Conservative groups are pressing for certain cuts in Veterans Benefits. One big complaint of theirs is that the claim of a veteran having “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder” is too common these days. Largely because of the Vietnam War; more and more veterans (over 200,000) have claim PTSD for help from the people that sent them to war. They have claimed that many of these people that are claiming to have this disorder are most likely faking it to some degree to continue siphoning money from the government. Ok, there’s a way to show them veterans that you care; accuse them all of lying just like certain employers used to interrogate people on Worker’s Compensation or laid off employees on Unemployment!! You send them to war and expect all of them to be peachy when they return…are you assholes forgetting that these men and women have seen more death than any human was meant to see? They’ve have traumatic experiences of being shot at almost regularly, having bombs explode around them, watching their friends and others die in front of them….how in the hell can any of us even accuse ONE SINGLE soldier of lying about this??!!! This is just disgraceful!!
As many Military Recruiters attempt to deceive young men and women into joining the fight to “protect and spread freedom”; the provision within the No Child Left Behind Act that requires all schools to provide student information to the military or face losing federal funding, still come under scrutiny. It seems that there are still schools out there that are neglecting to tell parents and students that they have the option of “opting-out”. Every student and/or parent has the option to “opt-out” of this mass list of young men and women between 16-25. The problem is that many out there are leaving us defenseless against harassments by overambitious military recruiters. (Note: Not ALL military recruiters are bad, but rather a select few in the total number of them.) When certain families were finally notified of this right; many of them have gladly “opted-out”. It’s not cowardly to not want to join the military for a war you don’t support!! If you haven’t been told about this right yet; DEMAND TO HAVE THE INFORMATION from your school, or other government officials!!!
Just sickening, in a pathetic attempt to be cheap at a time of war; military officials are planning on spending millions of dollars to recycle Vietnam-era vehicles for current military operations!! These bastards want to supply our brave men and women with old vehicles that don’t have the capabilities of maneuvering in a battlefield, nor do they have the proper armor to protect our troops in battle!! So, instead of spending money on new, state of the art made-for-war vehicles; our cheap ass “leaders” are wanting to send our soldiers with 30+ year old crap…JUST PATHETIC!!
A former lawyer for Saddam Hussein has called for his release, citing that it would help heal the wounds of the Iraqis and thwart a Civil War. According to several reports, many Iraqis feel that the entire trial is just a show and that it is filled with endless lies. Honestly, I kind of agree, but when I look at the Kurds and Shiites; I’m not sure how true it is that releasing Saddam would bring an end to our troubles. Nevertheless, regardless of whether it could or not; I don’t think BOOsh would care.
As a result of pressure from the International Monetary Fund, the Iraqi government has hiked up the prices of fuel in Iraq. Many Iraqis feel this is an injustice as the raised prices will begin to have an effect on the prices of other needs as well. This is no way to help the Iraqis trust their new government…
Kurds in Iraq have gotten a raw deal in this new Iraq. They claim that they should get Kirkuk back, because Saddam forced them out of the city. The main reason for this controversy is all the oil that sits underneath the area. These people are increasingly getting angry, and you know what…I don’t for see a good outcome to this unless the Shiite dictators in the Iraqi Government feel it to be necessary to change course for the benefit of their people.
In fact, the Kurds that have been trained in the new Iraqi Military have started announcing their loyalty to a Kurdish militia. If something doesn’t change soon – for the better – we could see a three front civil war that could lead to a regional disaster!!
Hell, there are many Iraqis that believe that Civil War is on the way. Some Iraqi Military officials shrug their shoulders at the thought of Kurds separating from Iraq, but when it is mentioned that they may want Kirkuk back….the tone starts to change a bit: “If the Kurds want to separate from Iraq it's OK, as long as they keep their present boundaries," said Sgt. Hazim Aziz, an Arab soldier who was stubbing out a cigarette in a barracks room. "But there can be no conversation about them taking Kirkuk. ... If it becomes a matter of fighting, then we will join any force that fights to keep Kirkuk. We will die to keep it.”… "These soldiers do not know anything about Kirkuk," Capt. Ismail Mahmoud, a former member of the Kurdish Peshmerga militia, said as he got up angrily and walked out of the room. "There is no other choice. If Kirkuk does not become part of Kurdistan peacefully we will fight for 100 years to take it.” What a Beautiful land, Iraq has become!!
In a poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal, you are exposed to the true ignorance of many conservatives: “About 22% of U.S. adults believe Mr. Hussein helped plan 9/11, the poll shows, and 26% believe Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the U.S. invaded. Another 24% believe several of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqis, according to the online poll of 1,961 adults.” LMAO!!!
General Pace has announced that a phased withdrawal will begin this year. According to him, the withdrawal will be conducted in accordance with the Iraqi Military’s ability to defend itself. Now, we may be getting somewhere, but is this genuine? Or is it a political move by the Repugs to help gain them support just in time for the Congressional Election?
In a move that has no doubt aggravated the BOOsh Regime, Poland has announced their plans to withdrawal roughly 40% of their forces from Iraq by year’s end. Bulgaria and Ukraine have also announced plans to complete their exits. The “Coalition” is crumbling…(like BOOsh cares)
The New York Times reports that 844 U.S. Soldiers were killed in Iraq in 2005!! That’s near the level of 2004’s deaths. Progress?
BOOsh stated at the beginning of the year that he plans on “staying on the offensive” in the Iraq War. He claimed that Iraq and Afghanistan have had historic achievements in liberty. However, Mr. Ass-master, when you look at the impending civil war in Iraq and the possible return of the Taliban in Afghanistan; who are you going to blame for the failure? Will you admit having made a mistake, or your actions having led to this chaos? No. You never will, because this isn’t about spreading liberty; it’s about establishing your “legacy”.
How does a man of like Ahmed Chalabi get over a staggering defeat in a nationwide election? By receiving an appointment to oversee the handlings of the nation’s oil production!! Congrats…ass.
The BOOsh Regime tries to cover up what seemed liked a disagreement between General Pace and Rumsfailed, when they had slightly different opinions on the duty of U.S. soldiers when torture is underway in their presence: “When General Pace was asked (about the disagreement) on Thursday by reporters in Bahrain about the exchange, he said for the first time that he and Mr. Rumsfeld had not really disagreed at all. General Pace said he was talking about the obligations of American soldiers in a war zone like Iraq or Afghanistan; Mr. Rumsfeld, he said, was talking about the obligations of Americans in a nonhostile setting like, say, Tokyo.”
Iraqis are now even writing letters to BOOsh, telling him that they feel dis-contempt for him and his pursuit of “spreading freedom”. These people love and yearn for democracy, but wish BOOsh had never tried to impose it onto them. Progress, my ass!!
A recent report has found that the CIA ignored numerous warnings that Iraq had no Weapons of Mass Destruction before the Invasion. The program had been dead for a decade or more preceding the war, and no one seemed to care. Well, no one that was taking orders from our glorious oppressor.
In an incident that is still unsolved; four Iraqis that were protesting the hiked up oil prices were shot and killed. It’s unclear who exactly pulled the trigger, but many are starting to blame either Iraqi Police or Occupational Soldiers. This is just one small example of the things that the insurgents use to rally people to their cause…END THIS WAR!!
BOOsh’s support amongst military families is fading. These people aren’t lost; they only need to be informed on the bull**it that is going on around them. Blind support for dictators in war time needs to end!!
There are soldiers that are doing everything they can to get out of the military. Not because they are cowards, but because they have either adopted new religious beliefs, realized that war is wrong, want to be with their families, or feel that the way this Regime has treated them his a violation of their rights. These brave men and women deserve better!!
The BOOsh Regime has announced that they do not plan on asking Congress for new funds to help rebuild Iraq. However, we will continue to blow buildings and people up on a daily basis…hmm…who is going to pay for the damage we cause then?
When he was asked whether or not he would join the military today – seeing how our soldiers are treated in this war in Iraq – 37 Year Marine Veteran (who fought in Korea and Vietnam) Congressman John Murtha said: “No," … "And I think you're saying the average guy out there who's considering recruitment is justified in saying 'I don't want to serve'," the interviewer continued. … "Exactly right," said Murtha”. Anyone who calls someone like Murtha - or any person that refuses to fight in a war they don’t agree with – a coward should be ashamed of themselves, and should reevaluate their contributions to the causes they support.
The war in Iraq has so strained our military that they mixing duties of servicemen in the various branches!! According to one report, the military has been requiring members of the Air Force and Navy to do jobs that is usually for the Army…damn.
A 60+ year old marine was recently arrested for desertion. The charge? He apparently didn’t go to the Vietnam War…isn’t there supposed to be a statute of limitations? Why the hell did they wait 30+ years to charge this man?!!
Did the December 15th Election coupled with Saddam’s trial help stop the violence in Iraq? No.
Great Britain recently confessed that they were wrong when they blamed Iran for helping insurgents in the Iraq War. This revelation by the U.K. contradicts our government’s claim that Iran is backing ”the enemy”. Hmm, I sense a distant plot to justify war in Iran based upon the assertion that they aided our enemies in Iraq…hope I’m wrong.
Paul Bremer, whom was in charge of running Iraq for about a year after the Invasion has come out and stated that our government was caught by surprise by the insurgency. WTF? Ok, first of all, many experts in the history and people who were opposed to this war came out warning about the possibility of a revolt, and then…when you idiots saw all the violence in Iraq, you claimed that a brief revolt was to be expected when a country transitions from a dictatorship to a (coughtheocraticdictatorshipcough) “democracy”. A bunch of liars, you really are. (As Master Yoda would say…lol)
The Times of New York have reported that the vast majority of soldiers killed in Iraq were due to injuries below the head and neck. It has been concluded that if our ignorant “leaders” would’ve just supplied our troops with the right armor for this war; the majority of the deaths in Iraq would’ve been prevented!!
The military is trying to blame their problems in recruiting and apparently on the battlefield on those of us that are calling for an end to the conflict. That’s right, go ahead and blame everyone but yourselves for your poor planning on winning the war and the peace!!
Bin-Laden’s number two proclaims that the BOOsh Regime’s announcement of plans to “drawdown” troop numbers in Iraq is a sign that they have been “defeated by the Muslims”. Of course, I disagree with that, because it’s more than likely a political move to gain support for the dictator’s party in an election that could give Repugs unchecked control over the entire government. This is a victory for no one other than the rulers of the American Empire, because of the deception they use and the many out there that are likely to believe them.
On New Year’s Day, the Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian stated that Taiwan needs to purchase more arms from the United States instead of embracing relations with the mainland. He also noted that their needs to be certain amendments to the Taiwanese Constitution. The Chinese government strongly opposes both maneuvers and has threatened war as a means to prevent Taiwan from moving towards full independence. In fact, the constitution of the island still recognizes the “legal name” of Taiwan as the Republic of China (China is known as the People’s Republic of China). Taiwan holds to the belief that they still have jurisdiction over the mainland, but Taiwan has shied away from that rhetoric for quite some time. Either way, our government should be cautious about this heated feud between Taiwan and China, because it could lead to war. Unfortunately, due to laws that have been passed in our country, we are obligated to protect Taiwan in the event of a war. God Help Us All.
The recent two day-long dispute between Russia and Ukraine can have long lasting effects on the entire European Continent. Knowing that Russia will halt supplying gas to a partner nation over a slight disagreement has alarmed the European Union and has led them to start talking about researching alternative means for energy. The EU basically doesn’t trust that Russia won’t do this again, and they are seeking a way to avoid a standoff in the future. Maybe our country should learn from this situation and begin a process that decreases our dependency on foreign sources of energy.
Iran has announced plans to continue their illegal nuclear research. Despite the warning of the United Nations; Iran seems to be testing the waters and try and call everyone’s bluff. It doesn’t help those of us that are trying to avoid a crisis that Russia and China repeatedly come to Iran’s aid in situations like this. If something doesn’t change soon, this could get much worse.
Iran has even stated that their decision is non-negotiable. This – of course – makes the possibility of an impending conflict more likely. However, for a handful of nations that possesses – and in our case continues to produce – weapons of mass destruction to order others to refrain from doing the same; is nothing short of hypocrisy.
Tonight's Conclusion
Wal-Mart recently withdrew a program on their website that linked movies with racial tones to terms that sounded racist. For example, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and the “Planet of the Apes” movies were linked to movie about the history of “African-Americans”. This is absurd, especially seeing how Wal-Mart is still “unable to explain how it happened”!!
Remember to step up to Wal-Mart. I'll be organizing or taking part in anti-Wal-Mart demonstrations soon and I want to encourage you all to do the same. This corporation is as unAmerican and anti-worker as can be. The patriotic thing to do would be to boycott these pricks until they change course for the better.
