  • The 2024 Election

Welcome everyone to one of my favorite traditions (since 2008); chronicling the presidential election results!

Going into tonight, we are looking at a number of facts about this election (beyond the obvious pertinent to policy):

    1. This is the 60th Presidential Election in our history
    2. No woman has ever been elected president (let alone a woman of color)
    3. No person of Asian descent has ever been elected president
    4. Only one president has ever been elected to nonconsecutive terms, and that was Grover Cleveland, who won the 1884 and 1892 presidential elections
    5. Not since 1856 has a Democrat (James Buchanan) been elected to succeed an incumbent Democratic president (Franklin Pierce)
    6. Not since 1988 has a sitting Vice President (George H.W. Bush) been elected as president
    7. Not since 1984 has a Californian (Ronald Reagan) been elected president

Today will be a day of many firsts. Stay tuned for the fun!
