Back to work, "OSM"
Despite the Gopher's pessimism, I am back to work. This site will be updated regularly starting tonight. It seems that everything has worked out in getting caught up in my school work and pretyping tonight's entry. Granted, it's been two weeks since my last update, by I am here now.
Two weeks ago, I reported that I received a letter from Senators Voinovich and Dewine, and it says the following:

Thank you for contacting our office concerning your problem with Medicaid. We understand that this is frustrating for you, and as your United States Senators, it is our priviledge and duty to assist you in any manner available to us.
Unfortunately, as federal officials, our jurisdiction extends only to matters that are related to the federal government. Since your concern is not a federally related matter, we do not feel that we can adequately provide the assistance you need.
However, in an effort to be of service to you, we have taken the liberty of forwarding your correspondence to the Governor's Office. For your reference, the Governor's Office may be reached at: 30th Floor 77 South High Street, Columbus, OH 43215, or by telephone at: 614-466-3555.

O.K., now that I have finally shared that with all of you; Let me give you my assessment of this dull response. These two pathetic Repug assholes claim that they can't help me because it is "out of their jurisdiction". Hmm, first of all, Medicaid - as I have mentioned before - is a FEDERALLY FUNDED PROGRAM!! It was created by the Federal Government as a part of President Lyndon Baines Johnson's "Great Society" plan in the 1960s!! Congress often votes on whether or not to cut funds to Medicaid - among many other programs - and since BOOsh has been in office; they have succeeded in such. Why is this out of their jurisdiction then? Is it because the State Governments are given the responsibility to regulate and distribute these entitlements? Must be.
However, just because the Federal Government doesn't make all the decisions for Medicaid, it doesn't mean that these two guys can't pick up a phone or write a letter asking what the HELL IS GOING ON!!! Are they that restrained?!! My mother is more than willing to sign releases so that these guys can discuss her situation, but it seems to me like they could give two s**ts about her or any of us for the matter!!
In a lighter tone, City Council President Marc Guthrie called me last week to see if we had heard anything from Medicaid as of late. He himself has heard nothing from them and has been left with no answer, so I told him that after Mom gets done with this review appointment that she has at Medicaid tomorrow, I will update him on the matter. I must remind you all that the hardest working individuals have been my local politicians, and by the way - this is for the two lazy ass Senators - IT IS OUT OF THEIR JURISDICTION, but that DIDN'T stop THEM!!

One half – the fundamentalists – claim that Alito will finally tip the balance of the Supreme Court in their favor and open the doors to make this “one nation under God” again (I can see the dark clouds of McCarthyism on the horizon), all the while; Repugs claim that Alito won’t impose his personal views on the American people. Either way, I see two different opinions on the same side of one man’s case. It’s very evident that these people are deceiving us, with the intent to confuse the public into submission. WE MUST NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS!!!
There are reports that the dreaded bird flu is spreading faster than experts previously thought. If our crazy unseasonable weather continues on its current path, bacteria will have a difficulty in dying off, therefore the likelihood of these diseases mutating increases. Once H5N1 mutates to transfer from human to human, the disease is likely to spread and kill a hundred times faster than its current rate.
BOOsh and company are seemingly using the insane weather to cover up their track of bad leadership. Although we’ve been “at war” in Iraq since 2003, and in the “war on terror” since 2001, coupled with outsourcing, increased military spending and endless tax cuts; BOOsh and his Cabal seem to find a way to blame natural disasters for our increasing National Debt and Budget Deficit. The BOOsh Regime has recently broken the law in restricting certain tax collecting data to the public. A court order in the 1970s should’ve kept these avenues open, but BOOsh is “above the law”, remember?
The IRS has been breaking the law and has even been ripping millions of us Americans off on our tax refunds. As a part of a recently established IRS Program, the IRS labels a selection of refunds as “suspect or fraudulent” and then they freeze the refund. These bastards often don’t provide enough information to the people that dearly need it and then they expect us to comply with rules and deadlines that we have no knowledge of. I’ve been a victim of this myself, as the IRS ripped me off of $5,000 that I now have to pay back all because of a mistake. I believe that the Internal Revenue Service is necessary to ensure that taxes are paid, but it is ridiculous how the middle and lower class are treated by these people. Something needs to be done…and BOOsh isn’t going to be the one to solve this problem!!
BOOsh’s Medicare Prescription Drug program that kicked off on the first of this month has created quite an outcry. Seniors are now being forced to look for similar medicines that are covered by their new plans. That’s assuming that there is an alternative to whatever they took before. Many seniors have discovered that their prescriptions aren’t completely covered under BOOsh’s new program, and on top of all of this; the bureaucratic offices have experienced a load of troubles in confirming the newly covered patients. Always a good thing to have a gift such as this from that good old Bastard in Chief!!
Indeed, the LBJ programs of Medicare and Medicaid have been under attack by Repugs for years, but the crisis with this new BOOsh plan for the programs could be one of their greatest victories in causing the Great Society programs to become obsolete! Democrats warned that this crap could and would happen, but the combined ignorance of Repugs and their misinformed supporters ignored the signs and went through with the devastating program anyway. Thank you assholes!!

It seems that the Congress Research Service has concluded in a report that BOOsh’s Spy Program is illegal in everyway you can think of. They underline that BOOsh violates the 1970’s FISA Law that established a Secret Court to get the necessary warrants for spying, has abused his power (while claiming – falsely – that the Fall 2001 act by Congress that started the “war on terror” has given him this authority) and has – most importantly – committed an unconstitutional act! Are these not “high crimes and misdemeanors”?!!
Samuel Alito - you know; the guy that BOOsh nominated to take O’Connor’s place on the Supreme Court? – has claimed that BOOsh has the authority to break the law if it interferes with his duty to protect the nation’s security. “It would be a rare instance in which it would be justifiable for the president or any member of the executive branch not to abide by a statute passed by Congress. It would be a very rare example.” He backed up this statement by saying that this is a constitutional right of the president. Since when? Show me where in the constitution this authority exists especially when you agree that Congress has the constitutional authority to pass certain statutes and that “The president, like everybody else, is bound by statutes that are enacted by Congress.” Alito’s interpretation of Presidential Authority is one that should be feared as even Thomas Jefferson (The author of the Declaration of Independence, the 3rd President and the creator of the Democratic-Republican Party) warned against this kind of unchecked authority!!
There are even reports that BOOsh authorized the spy program on Americans months before 9/11 ever took place! Either way, many people agree that this was a clear abuse of power and is worthy of impeachment and removal proceedings!!

The government has been trying to get access to search engine records. They’ve reportedly told Google, Yahoo and others that this information is vital to their fight against Child Pornography – which is understandable, that evil crime needs to be stopped – but I just don’t feel comfortable knowing that the government wants to snoop around with what we search for. Yahoo has apparently already granted the government the ability to look at the records, but Google has denied them the access. First, they completely violate the 4th Amendment by tapping into phone conversations with no warrant, and now they are trying to look at our search history…what the hell is next?!!
The FBI is complaining that the vast majority of the information that the NSA sends them turns out to be useless. Many innocent Americans that have never had any ties to terrorism whatsoever have been spied on by the NSA and referenced to the FBI. According to the FBI, the number of useless information is in the “thousands”!!

When a loving mother asker her soldier son what he wanted for Christmas, he said: “Body Armor.” So, to honor her son’s wishes, this lady spent roughly around $3,000 on her son’s proper protective gear. This is f**king ridiculous!! Why do the parents and the soldiers have to purchase the armor for fighting wars that the government sends them to? Why doesn’t this government cover that cost? It’s a matter of priorities, and those priorities apparently don’t involve the safety of our soldiers!!
The Pentagon has apparently been ordering soldiers to leave their privately purchased armor at home in order to avoid penalization and loss of their life insurance benefits: “The soldiers, who are currently staging for combat operations from a secret location, reported that their commander told them if they were wearing Pinnacle Dragon Skin [body armor] and were killed their beneficiaries might not receive the death benefits from their $400,000 SGLI life insurance policies. The soldiers were ordered to leave their privately purchased body armor at home or face the possibility of both losing their life insurance benefit and facing disciplinary action.”
Several soldiers have filed suit against the National Guard and Pentagon for reimbursement. Apparently these soldiers have had to pay for their food, transportation and lodging without any promise of compensation for their loss of funds. What in the blue hell does the military spend all of it’s money on, if not on the security, transportation, lodging and meals of our men and women in Uniform?!! I’ll give you a few clues: Weapons, Contracts, and some-Reconstruction. Pathetic, they can pay for the devices to go to war, they just can’t compensate for the sacrifices of those that fight the wars!
BOOsh has warned that if Democrats openly oppose this war, we risk looking sympathetic to the enemy! Plus, she was involved in a campaign last year. She and I converse every now and then whenever we get a chance. On the otherhand, keep in mind that these Local Officials technically didn't have to do anything because of the fact that they have no authority or real influence over Medicaid, however, each of the above mentioned local officials (with the exception of the Advocate) deserves a bonus point for taking the time to step up for my mother and I.
Now, before I close, I just want to alert all of you that I will have a Mid-Week update from now on, which will be to tell all of you about what I am doing in my personal life (this is in response to a request from a reader...namingly, the Gopher).
